Description of the positions:
The internship will take place in a combination of two positions with two collaborating organizations.

ECEBM:
The student will serve as a Student Editor of the Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring and Research Intern at the Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring. In this capacity, the student will oversee all aspects of the Chronicle for Evidence-Based Mentoring, including editing and posting editorial content, creating podcasts, facilitating outreach (including social media), managing the editorial board contribution schedule and subscriber list and assisting with building corporate sponsorship of Chronicle. With over 5,500 subscribers and ten thousand visitors each month, The Chronicle of Evidence-Based Mentoring, is working to initiate a broader, international dialogue among practitioners and researchers invested in best-practices in mentoring. The student will also collaborate with the Director and her research team to organize expert workshops, disseminate findings, assist with research projects, and help disseminate new research findings to programs.
MENTOR:
The student will serve as Student Event and Communication Manager of the National Mentoring Partnership at the headquarters office. In this position, the intern will play a role in supporting MENTOR and its affiliates in a diversity of coordination tasks such as the preparations for the National Mentoring Summit, group facilitation, copyediting, writing, data collection, design and fundraising. MENTOR works in partnership with regional affiliates that provide the local leadership and infrastructure necessary to meet the demands of young people and communities across the country. The student will join a dynamic team and work with 25+ affiliates / non-profits around the country helping with organizational development and communications.
Qualifications:
• enrolled or completed a BA/BS
• Experience with and/or commitment to youth development
• Interest in nonprofit organizations and their development
• Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills
• Strong social media skills
• Proven leadership and project management abilities
• Passion for national and community service
• The desire to work with diverse people, organizations and communities

Host Sites’ Description:
The Center for Evidence-Based Mentoring is an alliance between MENTOR: National Mentoring Partnership and the University of Massachusetts/Boston campus. Our mission is to create an open and efficient exchange of research and ideas into best-practices in mentoring. Since its inception in 2012, the Center has launched several initiatives that will further support the work of mentoring programs and research into best-practices. The Center is host to a series of Short-Courses that delve deeply into evidence-based practices around special topics in order to develop guidelines that will inform the field of mentoring. Other initiatives include writing a new edition of The Elements of Effective Practice; Mentoring Central (in collaboration with iRT) suite of on-line training modules to help mentoring programs align with the standards and guidelines outlined in The Elements.
The MENTOR National Mentoring Partnership is a unifying champion for expanding quality youth mentoirng relationships in the United States. For more that 25 years, MENTOR has served the mentoring field by providing a public voice; developing and delivering resources to mentoring programs nationwide; and promoting quality for mentoring through evidence-based standards, innovative research and essential tools. MENTOR has developed and supports a national network of local Affiliates that provide regional, state and local leadership and infrastructure necessary to support expansion of quality mentoring relationships. Together, MENTOR engages with the private, public and nonprofit sectors to ensure that all youth have the support they need through mentoring relationships to succeed at home, school and, ultimately, work.

• We offer you support in finding housing and finding your way around in Boston;
• You will follow a preparation program before your exchange, offered by the Frisian educational institutes;
• The student exchange and internship is part of a collaboration between educational institutes in Friesland, NL and the mentoring field in Boston, US. The collaboration started in 2016 and this is the 3rd year of student exchange activities. You can meet student alumni of the Friesland-Boston exchange in the past year;
